In this session, Charles Capito and Aki Bayz will provide an overview of the current U.S. export control regulatory regime and related risk areas, including U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR); the U.S. Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); and sanctions issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control’s (OFAC).

Charles and Aki will provide commentary and insight across a variety of related concerns, including:

  • Keeping up with the continuously changing regulatory environment, from the stricter controls related to China to the forthcoming controls on “emerging and foundational technologies”
  • Effective export control compliance programs – best practices and how to use as part of your business’ compliance toolkit
  • Voluntary disclosures – how and why contractors would choose to disclose potential violations of U.S export controls to the Government, including subcontractor violations
